Attention Female Computer Users

Do you experience work-related pain, numbness, or tingling in your fingers, hands or wrists? Have you been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome? Are you a female between the ages of 21 and 50 who is currently working full time? If so, you are invited to participate in a research study of job stress and carpal tunnel syndrome that can help you learn more about your problem. Healthy Women Sought

Healthy postmenopausal women are needed to participate in a study of normal blood. To be eligible, you must have had no abnormal bleeding or clotting in the past. Participants must be willing to stay off any hormone treatment for 9 months. They will also be required to give a small blood sample (about 2 tablespoons) in an initial screening. The study, which takes place at the Clinical Center, involves no hormones or medications. Compensation ($50) is provided for each blood draw. For more information, call 496-5150.

Normal Volunteers Sought

NHLBI seeks healthy men and women age 60 and above to help create a database for nuclear imaging of healthy hearts. Volunteers should have no history of heart problems, high blood pressure, elevated blood cholesterol or radiation exposure in the past year. Total time commitment is 6-8 hours over 2 days. Female Volunteers Needed

The Behavioral Endocrinology Branch, NIMH, is seeking female volunteers ages 18-55 to participate in studies of the effects of reproductive hormones on brain and behavior. Volunteers must have regular menstrual cycles with no changes in mood in relationship to menses, be free of medical illnesses and not taking any hormones or medication on a regular basis. They will complete daily rating forms and be offered participation in one or more protocols. Payment will be in accordance with the duration of each visit and the type of protocol. Female Paid Volunteers Needed

Healthy Twins Needed

The Child Psychiatry Branch, NIMH, seeks healthy identical and same-sex fraternal twins age 5-16 to participate in an MRI study of the effects of genes and environment on brain development. Volunteers must be free of medical and psychiatric illnesses. Parents will be asked to complete a 15-minute phone screen and some multiple-choice questionnaires. Twin participation requires a 3-hour visit for a neurological exam, cognitive testing and blood draw, and a 1-hour visit for the MRI scans. Participants will be paid.
