NEI Seeks Volunteers for AMD Study
NEI is looking for people over the age of 50 who have early to intermediate age-related macular degeneration. At the first visit, you will be asked to answer questions about your eyes in different light conditions. After being dilated with eye drops, you will be asked to take part in the dark adaptation procedure. For the procedure, a machine will measure how fast your eyes recover in decreasing levels of light. The machine also measures how sensitive your eyes are in dim lighting. You will be in the study for 5 years. You will have at least 9 outpatient visits at NIH. You will not be paid for participating in the study. For more information, call 1-800-411-1222 (TTY 1-866-411-1010) and refer to study 11-EI-0147.
