Diez Roux To Give 1st NIMHD Director’s Lecture

Dr. Ana V. Diez Roux will discuss “Challenges and Opportunities for Health Disparities Research” on Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. in Lipsett Amphitheater, Bldg. 10. Her presentation is part of a new quarterly lecture, the NIMHD Director’s Seminar Series. The goal of the series is to highlight novel research discoveries by prominent researchers who are advancing the science of minority health and health disparities.

Diez Roux is dean and distinguished university professor of epidemiology in the Dornsife School of Public Health at Drexel University. A physician and epidemiologist, she is known internationally for her research on the social determinants of health. For more than 20 years, her work has affected public health research, policy and practice.

Diez Roux’s presentation will address conceptual models of health disparities, implications for research and action; methodological challenges; emerging directions and promising areas for collaboration.

Diez Roux received an M.D. from the University of Buenos Aires, a master’s degree in public health and a doctorate in health policy and management from Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health.
