Caporaso Retires from NCI
Dr. Neil Caporaso, an internationally recognized expert in genetic and environmental factors influencing lung cancer, chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and related familial hematologic disorders, retired from the National Cancer Institute’s Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics in October.
NINDS’s Floeter Retires After 30 Years of Government Service
Dr. Mary Kay Floeter, a senior clinician in the motor neuron disorders unit in the Neurogenetics Branch of NINDS’s Division of Intramural Research, retired Sept. 30 after 30 years of federal service—all with NINDS.
Scotto, Former DCEG Biostatistician, Mourned
Joseph Scotto, retired biostatistician and epidemiologist at the National Cancer Institute, passed away on Aug. 5 at the age of 81. In 1962, following graduation from Columbia University School of Public Health, he joined NCI’s Biostatistics Branch as a commissioned officer in the Public Health Service. He retired in 1992 after 30 years of service.
HHS Honors Two from NIH
The Federal Asian Pacific American Council recently announced the recipients of the 2020 Dr. Howard K. Koh Award for Excellence in Leadership at HHS and the 2020 Dr. Francisco S. Sy Award for Excellence in Mentorship at HHS.
