Mouse Retrovirus Expert Evans of RML Dies

Dr. Leonard Henry “Pug” Evans, 77, chief of the retroviral molecular biology section at NIAID’s Rocky Mountain Laboratories in Hamilton, Mont., unexpectedly passed away on June 24.

NCI’s Gerhard Remembered

Dr. Daniela Gerhard, director of NCI’s Office of Cancer Genomics, passed away suddenly on June 25. She spent more than 17 years committed to developing and executing large-scale genomics research programs for NCI.

RML Campus Mourns Loss of Photographer Kercher

Bryan Kercher, who was responsible for practically every NIH photo over the last decade showing the serene Montana setting at NIAID’s Rocky Mountain Laboratories, died in a climbing accident on May 8.
