Dr. Yoshihiko Yamada, a senior scientist in the Laboratory of Cell and Developmental Biology in the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, passed away on Dec. 16, 2019.

Long Appointed Director of NIGMS Division
Dr. Rochelle Long is the new director of the NIGMS Division of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry (PPBC). A pharmacologist, she has played leading roles in fostering research in pharmacogenomics through national and international collaborations.
Boerboom Heads CSR Division
Dr. Lawrence Boerboom is the new director of the Division of Physiological and Pathological Sciences at the Center for Scientific Review. He has been chief of CSR’s cardiovascular and respiratory sciences integrated review group since 2009.
Holland Named NIAID Scientific Director
Dr. Steven M. Holland has been appointed director of the NIAID Division of Intramural Research. He has served NIAID as chief of the Laboratory of Clinical Infectious Diseases since 2004 and as NIH deputy director for intramural clinical research since 2011.
Former Diversity Program Manager Laster Mourned
Osler H. Laster, better known within the NIH community as “O.H.,” died Apr. 4 at Howard County General Hospital from complications of a heart condition.
Thambisetty Wins 2016 Geschwind Prize
