Volkow Receives Honorary Doctorate

On June 6, NIDA director Dr. Nora Volkow was presented with an honorary doctorate of science from Concordia University in Montreal. She received the honor in recognition of her accomplishments in the study of drug addiction. At the convocation ceremony, Volkow addressed graduates and their families about the prescription opioid overdose epidemic.

On hand for the occasion were Dr. Alan Shepard, president and vice chancellor of Concordia University; David Johnston, governor general of Canada, who also received an honorary doctorate; and Jonathan Wener, chancellor of Concordia University.
