NIDA and NIAAA directors Drs. Nora Volkow and George Koob present the first jointly sponsored NIDA-NIAAA Lifetime Science Award to Dr. A. Thomas McLellan at the Joint National Advisory Council for the Collaborative Research on Addiction at NIH meeting on May 3. This first-time award was presented to McLellan for his outstanding contributions to the field of drug and alcohol research. McLellan is the founder and board chair for the Treatment Research Institute in Philadelphia and a long-standing leader in the field.
