NIAMS recently hosted “The Path to Academia” Career Forum for trainees, which focused on how to transition to an independent academic faculty position. Invited investigators from the NIH extramural community, including NIAMS alumni, discussed their research interests and career journeys. Panel sessions covered topics that included searching for a faculty position, interviewing, negotiating, mentoring and getting tenure.
