On July 30, NIH hosted separate visits by Sen. Tom Udall (D-NM) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), both of whom met first with NIH leadership before pursuing personal interests. Udall was principally interested in studies of the human microbiome and visited the NIDDK Liver Diseases Branch in Bldg. 10. Khanna discussed the potential of NIH partnerships with Silicon Valley big-data companies and learned about food allergy research.
