The annual meeting of the Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health (BIRCWH) program, sponsored by the Office of Research on Women’s Health, was held recently on campus.

Keynote speaker Dr. Judith Regensteiner, a professor at the University of Colorado’s Center for Women’s Health Research, delivered the Ruth L. Kirschstein Memorial Lecture.

In a talk titled “Strategic Career Development: Charting the Course,” Regensteiner advised junior BIRCWH investigators: “Take a strategic approach to an academic career…Develop your mission and vision. Don’t be afraid to be bold. Focus on getting good mentorship…And get training where you can.”

Welcoming her was ORWH director Dr. Janine Clayton.
