Dr. William C. Dement, a physician-scientist widely regarded as the father of sleep medicine, died June 17 at age 91. He made numerous discoveries about the health and societal impact of sleep problems.

A remarkable couple who devoted most of their lives to public service and health at NIH recently passed away. At age 91, they both succumbed to Covid-19. Dr. Jerome “Jerry” Green died on Apr. 26 and Dr. Marie Röder Green died on May 10.

NHLBI’s Hewitt Mourned

Keith Hewitt, former head of the information services section at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, died of natural causes at his home in Sao Jose do Calcado, Brazil.
