Former DRG Director and NIH Scientist Wife Remembered

A remarkable couple who devoted most of their lives to public service and health at NIH recently passed away. At age 91, they both succumbed to Covid-19. Dr. Jerome “Jerry” Green died on Apr. 26 and Dr. Marie Röder Green died on May 10.

NHLBI’s Hewitt Mourned

Keith Hewitt, former head of the information services section at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, died of natural causes at his home in Sao Jose do Calcado, Brazil.

Peer Review Legend Remondini Dies at 88

Dr. David Remondini, a legendary scientific review officer at the Center for Scientific Review and the face of fair peer review for 36 years at NIH, died on May 7 at age 88 following surgery. Dapper, humble and eternally personable, Remondini led CSR’s genetics study section from 1977 to his retirement in 2013.

Deputy CIO Charland Retires

Stacy Charland, deputy director of the NIH Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Office of the Director, and NIH deputy chief information officer, retired at the end of May.

R&W’s Stalwart Cole Mourned

Margaritha Barbara Cole, 84, who provided memorable retail warmth at the R&W Gift Shop when it was a large operation on the B1 level of Bldg. 31, died Apr. 19 in Maryland.
