Dr. Michele A. Lobo, director of the Super Suits Program at the University of Delaware, and Dr. Alison Cernich, director of NICHD’s National Center for Medical Rehabilitation Research, featured one of Lobo’s Super Suit designs during the White House Design for All Showcase in September.
Developed with NCMRR support, the modified onesie is a lightweight “exoskeleton” to help boost upper body movement in children with developmental difficulties.
The event was a fashion show that celebrated inclusive design, assistive technology and prosthetics.
Cernich, who gave the closing remarks, announced the launch of the NIH Research Rehabilitation Plan.
