  • After 50-Plus Years, Gallin Steps into Next Phase

    On Mar. 25, his 80th birthday, Dr. John Gallin stepped into a new phase of the career into which he invested more than a half century: He retired as NIH associate director for clinical research and chief scientific officer of the Clinical Center (CC) in route to designation as a scientist emeritus.

  • Congressman Sessions Visits

    U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) visited NIH Mar. 27 to meet with NEI Director Dr. Michael Chiang and to tour NEI’s section on ocular and stem cell translational research, led by Dr. Kapil Bharti. Bharti’s lab is pioneering applications for patient-derived stem cells.
  • Schwetz, NIH Delegation Visit Bowie State University

    NIH Acting Deputy Director Dr. Tara Schwetz visited Bowie State University earlier this year to get a first-hand look at the nursing and natural life science departments. Several other NIH leaders joined her on the campus tour.
