Dr. Elisabeth Murray, chief of NIMH’s section on the neurobiology of learning and memory and chief, Laboratory of Neuropsychology, will give the 2018 lecture in the Anita B. Roberts Lecture Series: Distinguished Women Scientists at NIH, sponsored by the NIH women scientist advisors committee. Her talk, “Specializations for Decision-Making in Primate Prefrontal Cortex,” will be held Thursday, May 17 at 11 a.m. in Lipsett Amphitheater, Bldg. 10. All are welcome.

Murray’s research focuses on the neural basis of learning, memory, emotion and decision-making. This work makes use of multiple techniques to examine the dissociable functions of different prefrontal cortex regions and their interactions with various medial temporal lobe structures, especially the amygdala.

Murray is a fellow of the Association for Psychological Science, Society of Experimental Psychologists, American Psychological Association and American Association for the Advancement of Science. She has served as mentor to numerous trainees, been invited to present lectures worldwide and authored more than 160 peer-reviewed publications.

The seminar series is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Anita B. Roberts, chief of NCI’s Laboratory of Cell Regulation and Carcinogenesis from 1995 to 2006. Prior to her death in May 2006, she spent 30 years at NIH as a research leader.

Individuals who need reasonable accommodation to participate should contact Margaret McBurney at (301) 496-1921 and/or Federal Relay, 1-800-877-8339, 5 days before the lecture.
