NIH’s Sexual & Gender Minority Research Office announced the recent release of a new report from the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine on measuring sex, gender identity and sexual orientation.

Commissioned by NIH in 2020, the report provides an overview of the current evidence base, recommends specific measures for use and identifies research opportunities.

SGMRO led the effort, which was also co-funded by several other NIH components. NIH acting director Dr. Lawrence Tabak thanked the academies for the report, reiterating its importance. Read his statement at: https://go.usa.gov/xzfs5.
