PBS Airs ‘The Gene’

PBS recently aired the two-part documentary Ken Burns Presents The Gene: An Intimate History. The National Human Genome Research Institute helped support the show, which featured several NIH scientists. The series, which is based on The Gene by Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, journeys through key discoveries in genetics that are some of the greatest achievements in the history of science. In 2017, Mukherjee spoke about his book with NIH director Dr. Francis Collins at the inaugural NIH Big Read, the culminating event following several informal, mini book club discussions around NIH.
