Campus Offers 'Catch of the Day'

Fresh seafood from Booth Bay, Maine, the Gulf of Mexico and the coast of the Carolinas is available for sale on NIH's main campus each Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the summer by the Salt River Lobster Co. Offerings include salmon, cod, scallops, shrimp and live Maine lobsters. Shown below, Don McGe and Andrew Beardal (with cap) of Salt River have been serving the NIH campus for 15 years under the auspices of the R&W Association. They set up shop on parking lot 41B.

As a special treat, Chef Kurt Friesland will visit the outdoor stand on Friday, Aug. 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. He will demonstrate ways to cook seafood and share recipes for some of his specialties.
