Bluebird Nest Monitors Needed
Listen up, bird lovers. NIH is having great success this year with
its project to attract mosquito-eating bluebirds to campus. "To
date we have had five successful nests fledge a total of 25 new
bluebirds," reported Lynn Mueller, NIH landscape architect. "The
second nesting is soon approaching. However, my volunteer monitors
are thinning out and I sure would like to have more bird lovers
to help check some of the campus boxes on a weekly basis or as
time allows." There are 50 boxes around the perimeter and anyone
interested could monitor a dozen or so near their office or parking
area, then report what they find to Mueller. For details, call
Mueller, (301) 496-4817.
