NIAID Needs Healthy Volunteers
NIAID study seeks healthy adult volunteers, 18-64 years old. Researchers want to better understand the effects of glucocorticoids on the body. These medications are commonly used to treat conditions that cause inflammation on the skin and in the body like lupus, asthma and eczema. Participants will receive one intravenous dose of a glucocorticoid and a glucocorticoid cream will be applied to a small area of the skin. Blood and skin samples will be collected. Two outpatient visits at the Clinical Center are required. Compensation provided. Contact the Office of Patient Recruitment, 1-866-444-2214 (TTY 1-866- 411-1010). Refer to study 16-I-0126.
Antidepressant Study Recruiting
Depression, ketamine and alcohol researchers are evaluating rapid antidepressant effects in the brain. This inpatient study is enrolling eligible adults ages 21 to 65, who are free of other serious medical conditions, for 4-7 weeks as research participants. Procedures may include tapering off antidepressants, a medication-free period, 2 infusions of alcohol and 1 infusion of low-dose ketamine (FDA-approved anesthetic) and 2 brain scans (MRI). No cost to participate. Compensation provided. Study enrolls participants from across the U.S. Travel arrangements provided; costs covered by NIMH.
